Picked up another Emerson, A-100

As mentioned in a recent thread, apparently I have a new addiction, Emerson knives. Well, I saw an A-100 at a local shop with a clearance tag on it a couple days ago, the manager said he was pricing things to move if they'd been there over a year. I went back today at lunch and it was still in the case, so I had to buy it. I think I would have preferred the mini for what I have planned for this knife, but I couldn't pass it up for the price.

One odd thing I've noticed though, it doesn't have a serial number on it. It's a 2010 manufacturing date, and I just found a picture online of another 2010 without a serial number. Anybody know the story behind the lack of serial numbers?

nice pickup! I thought you were going to get it for me.

Not sure about the serial #s....I'll have to check mine...

Great knife, man. I love the A100s.

It's normal for 2010 to not have a serial number has I have several different models aswel that don't have them made in 2010

As far as I remember, they had a brief problem with the engraver for the serial numbers during 2010.

I'm still trying to figure out the details of this forum, and I haven't yet figured out how to send email. If you can, send me an email, maybe we can work something out.

Maybe I need to get mine out of long-term storage and play with it. About 90% of my arsenal never gets any love.

My first Emerson was an A-100. A little too big for pocket carry so I bought a mini a-100 and mini cqc7. Very nice, solid knives.

I too downsized to a Mini A100. I had the full size model fall out of my pocket several times due to the clip placement. No problems with the mini. Certain jeans manufacturers like Levi and Urban Pipeline now have shallower pockets which doesn't help. Kuhl pants are perfect for any size carry though.

Funny you guys bring up the mini right now. I traded away the full size shown at the beginning of this thread and just ordered a mini. The A-100 did prove to be a little bigger than I wanted.

I'm debating picking up a Mini A-100. It would be a nice addition to the larger Emerson knives I have on the way.

Edited to add: I went ahead and ordered one. Should have it Wednesday at the latest.

They were changing the equipment around in 2010 and some knives did not get a serial number. My 2010 BT A100 doesn't have a serial number and my CQC10 from the same year has one.
