I’m now dipping my toe into the world of knives and after some careful consideration I decided to pick up the Bugout. So far I love it and can’t put it down. The axis lock on benchmades is almost therapeutic.

That being said, what should my next purchase be? I’m thinking of either the 940-1/2 or Griptilian. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I’m caught between the 940-1 or the knofeworks 940-1501 with the 20cv steel.
Tough choice. If you like the color of the -1501 I would go that route as its a little cheaper. I've had both and both are great. Since your new to knives and likely don't know much about blade steel I would get the one that you think looks best.

Can't argue there! :-)

IMO, the Griptilian feels better in hand if you are making hard cuts. The 940 feels better in the pocket if you're not planning on cutting through styrafoam coolers and file cabinet cardboard boxes all the time. Both knives are capable, but my hand doesn't get as sore when I have harder push cuts to do when I use a thicker handle. Interestingly enough, I didn't have any sore spots on my hand when skinning bark off of a dead tree limb with the 940 for an hour... just to waste time.

I am carrying a 940-2 right now, and love the G10 over the older one I have in the anodized aluminum which scratches easily. It is also less expensive than the 940-1 if you don't have to have the CF, and s90v.

I've got a full size Grip, a 940 and a North Fork. If I had to sell one, I'd really struggle with that decision because I love all of them for different reasons.

The full size Griptillian fills the hand nicely and feels very sturdy when I'm using it around the farm. Mine has the Orange handles on it, so it's easy to spot if I leave it laying somewhere. It's the perfect knife for the way I use it on the farm.

As someone else said, the 940 just disappears in a pocket. It's amazing to me that a knife with a 3.4" blade can feel so small and light in a pocket. And it's a very classy looking and feeling knife also. I just pleases me to hold it.

The North Fork has some magical quality about it that satisfies me completely, and it's the perfect size for me for EDC duties. I do want to get a mini-grip just to compare to the North Fork.

I'm with the 940 crowd as well ... I believe any of the 940 variants would make you super happy ! There's plenty of reasons listed above and it has a time tested following. I say give it a test drive yourself. If its not for you ... it would be a easy sale.
