I have about 30 knives, and I have NEVER spent more than $80 on one. All but 2 of them have been used. I don't buy them to put in a glass case. I used to scoff at expensive knives, but then I was in a local gun shop (and Benchmade dealer) and I saw the Adamas 275.
Okay, I realize that model isn't for everyone, and may even seem ridiculous to some. I, however, have hands like Shrek and my folders all seem... Small.
I thought, well I'm not spending that kind of coin on a blade. Then the guy behind the counter saw me eyeballing it so the SOB puts it in my hand. Point... Set... Match! I felt like a little kid. Quality was recognizable immediately, and the dang thing fit my hand like a fixed blade. Then I clipped it into my front pocket and realized it stows nicely for such a behemoth of a knife.
And what a beauty... Tan scales against the black blade. Out came the wallet and one of my nevers came true. Now I find myself looking through their fixed blades.
Now I have to take my sharpening skills to a new level. When this D2 blade finally needs it, I want to be ready to put a nice edge back on it.
Anyhow, nice forum you all have here and Greetings from PA!
