Couldn't pass it up because I got a good deal for 35 dollars brand new with the leather sheath, came sharp as heck . This knife kicks ass!....I can't believe I didn't already buy the knife a long time ago. I love it.

Welcome aboard. I've been a Buck guy for a long time but just in the past few months actually bought a 119 to use. I never realized what I've been messing. I bought a used older one a few years ago but pretty much was just put up and not used.

The 75 th model for $35??!! that is a great deal! I assume that was not from a store?

This is definitely gonna be a user knife, I would hate to just let it sit around and not be put to good use....Gotta break it in and get a few scratches.

Great knife for the money (especially in your case!).
I carried mine that I bought in 1979 for 14 years in the military.
Thought I lost it till I found it in my dad's shop a couple years ago.
T'was a tearful reunion.

This is a good year to buy a 119. The handle and sheath look awesome. Congrats on the purchase, it's a great knife. I'm glad you are going to use it.

The only reason I don't yet own one is because I can't just walk into Walmart or a sporting goods store and buy one with a left handed leather sheath ( don't shop online )
I love the look of the knife in the factory jet black leather sheath it comes with so I'm not big on the idea of having to acquire a proper one.
It would be cool if Buck had lefty sheaths and would allow you to maybe swap by mail. I really do want one though.

I could see your point that you don't want to buy or make a custom sheath, but you could actually still use the knife with out carrying it on your belt. It's a good truck knife or glove box knife.

I just don't have the need for a knife in such a role and don't want to buy a knife which I'd love so much but could have difficulty carrying on my belt.

I have a western f48a that I was given as a kid and I do carry it sometimes as it's particular small size and sheath design don't make it awkward to have to flip it around when drawing, but even it is annoying to a degree.

Now that I think about it the 119's little brother is more suitable for me to edc anyways, but either way it's my own problem that me and a knife which I'd really love to have just weren't meant to be in a way that I'd be happy with ( ie on my belt in a factory left handed sheath )

Trying to quote here but can't get it to work... a poster wants a lefty sheath...

Well, I know you said that you don't want the hassle of messing around buying a sheath. But you often find sheathless knives for sale used. If you save enough money it might subsidize the custom sheath that you don't want to pay for.

I have no problem making a sheath for an old knife which no longer has one, so who knows if I'll find a 119 or 117 at a yardsale or flea market without a sheath.

Nice knife! Got mine in 2015, and used it on a moose that year. Worked well on the thick hide. My 119 takes a wicked edge.
Cool little offshoot, bought a 110 at the tagging station with 2015 Maine moose hunt etched on the blade, with a bull moose skull and antlers etched below.

Hard to go wrong with a 119. I used mine to field dress a moose, held an edge just fine with just a touch-up after first cutting through a lot of gritty hide that would take the edge off a diamond blade. I've seen them on west coast fishing boats where they get sloshed around in salty bilge and used (and abused) hard, without a problem.
