i have a few tips if you want them-one of the best things you can do is develop hand signals while training your pup-sit,stay,fetch ect

dogs have a tendency to read vocal inflections ,and training a puppy can be a pain somtimes-hand signals work great-

people are amazed when they come over and i just do a signal and my dogs go lay down-

also a good trick will impress-i ask my dogs(MOPAR,labbrott & Roscoe p coaltrain, pittrott)what they think about chebby's and ferds-they roll over and play dead, just like the cars that those companies make-lol

looks like a good dog-hope its as much of a joy as mine are

Oh, so cute.

It's good advice about hand signals. I've always had English Springers and a substantial fraction of them end up deaf so hand signals become invaluable. My last Springer, Angie, was deaf for the better part of her life and the hand signals proved invaluable.

I like the hand signal idea. I'll try that for sure. I want to also do some whistle signals for when we are in the field.

I have to settle on an "official" name by Friday. My wife wants to go with Blue Moon or Blue Moon Rising and calling him Blue.

He is precious!! Oh so cute!! What kind of doggie is that? And I like damascus for a name too.

Good job!

He is a wire haired pointing griffon.

Damascus isn't a bad name. Since he is steel gray how 'bout Damasteel? I think we are going to go with Blue Moon Rising for his official name. Probably call him blue.

I agree hand signal in conjunction with voice commands and even audio cues,(snapping fingers, whistling, clapping).

These all help control the dog, and spend at least 15 min. a day teaching your dog.

BTW great lookin' puppy pics why not post 'em here?

Let's see your pets

Thanks for the heads up, I think I will.

Meanwhile here is the breeder just sent me this picture of him. A good side profile. Of all the pups in the litter I like his markings and color the best. The other pups can be seen at www.bearhuggriffons.com Just look under gallery and litter B.
