Someone wanted to see some pics of the inexpensive Damascus knives I picked up, mostly for ceremonial knives for me and my two boys. These are just phone pics (the EVO is better than the old camera we have actually) of two of the the three knives. The other one has already been delivered to #2 son.

They are supposed to be 15n20 and 1095 folded and HRC 56-58 or so. What they are is big and not finely balanced. But they are nice looking and fit the purpose of being a bit showy. Not bad for the price. Each was around $50 plus another 19.99 for shipping from France. While getting some oohs and ahhs from various family and friends they aren't high end knives by any means. Though I really like the fold patterns in the top knife. So, I claimed that one for me.

Still, they fill their roles affordably.

Nothing to ceremonial. I told the boys that whenever any of us visit we should have a special stand where we place our knife when we are present as kind of representative that a sub-clan is here. Not going to happen though as one boy lives in Nebraska and don't see him and even though the other is near, schedules get in the way. It was a nice thought though.

Nope, they are mainly just for fancy and just something shared between us. A little bit of bonding and new tradition.

The motorcycle club I ride with all have matching club knives. Whenever we ride, when we camp they get thrown into the nearest picnic table, tree, whatever. Kind of silly, but fun. And if you don't have your knife and you get called on it.... (Beer and Dinner is on you.) :D

So, I commend your idea!

Like military challenge coins. :D Don't get caught without it. They just skipped the dinner and went for the beer.
