Well how was everyones weekend?

Mine was good. :)

We headed down to Missouris 3rd largest spring for some Trout fishing. First im sorry for the lack of pics, but it was too hard for me to run a camera while wading out and fly fishing lol...So these were taken by my wife while she was hiking around. This place is awesome. Bennett Springs State Park. The water was super cold, and gorgeous. The weather was unbelievable. 80s and not very humid at all. The place was super busy being a holiday weekend, but we caught a few Rainbows. Not a brown, but I saw a few guys with em on their stringers. I didnt expect to catch any being as it was my first time in the water with my fly rod, so I was happy. My 12 year old even caught one within 2 minutes of being in the water. I didnt catch any till a few hours later.

Now, I know of a couple other holes outside the park, but they are on the Niangua River, and it being a holiday weekend, the float trips were in full force so we didnt hit any of them up. I am hooked on fly fishing. Its fun.

Heres some pics....

Congrats for your first trout on a fly brother!!! That looks like a trout paradise!

I would share pics of my weekend, but who really wants to see my office..

Thanks Tony.....Its a great feeling. My sons catch was also on his first time with his fly rod.

Dude you would love this place. Sucks you had to work the weekend.

Fly-fishing is a skill I never did master. Congratulations!

I did find out, however, through boredom, that you can dangle flies over bullfrogs and eat well when you want to. (That's a real, honest to goodness survival skill with line and flies in your pocket carried kit!) :D

We just had too many conflicting events this weekend to do much more than get out for a dayhike yesterday.

I grew up fly fishing for trout...usually small mountain streams/creeks. I still get to fly fish with poppers and grasshoppers for blue gills we have in our lake; still a blast:D However, nothing beats fly fishing for trout up in the mountains though! Glad to see you guys get out and enjoy a beautiful weekend.

great pics Jake... looks like a nice spot...:)

we went and did some camping outside of Big Sur this weekend... it was great..:D

Great pics Jake, sounds like you guys had an awesome time. We used to catch a lot of speckled trout when they were running in the brackish water in Tampa, but I have never tried fly fishing. I need to go over to the Ocoee and give that a try.

Nice J. I just realized that I didn't go fishing at all this year.....

Thanks Ken....Hard to believe you didnt wet a line this year....Ive done more fishing this year then any year ever. 2010 is definatly my year to fish lol....

Awesome job on catching your first trout on the fly!!! And congratulations to your son too!

That place looks beautiful! One of these days I'm gonna have to check out the trout fishing back east. What did you catch them on?

I do have to say, I am a bit disappointed to not see any fish pictures... But, I know how hard it is to take pictures of your own fish. So I'll give you a pass just this once. I got to do some fly fishing myself over the weekend, and while I caught 7 or 8, I think I only came home with 1 or 2 pics.

Beautiful area brother. Sounds like a great time. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks man....

Thanks brother....you know man, you and Kat are more then welcome at my house anytime you want. We have plenty of room, and plenty of waters to fish. It would be awesome to have you guys.

Lol....yeah, thanks for the pass....Whenever I caught one, I looked around for Tina and she was off somewhere else with the camera so I was like whatever....:D

I was using some small Nymphs, and an Olive wooly bugger....

Congrats on the trout ! Thanks for sharing the trip !

Thanks brother. :)

G'day J

Is that river fed by a spring?

Even though I won't be giving up bait & lure fishing, I couldn't agree more. :D

Kind regards
Mick

Yeah, the 6th pic down is the head of the spring.

I hear ya, I love this thing called fly fishing, but I still do love bait and lure.

Thanks Mick...
