I got together with Iz Turley today for some woods time. We got out to the river valley and hiked up a small hill to a spot where we set up the tarp and built a fire. We did some tree ID, and charred some fungus, ate some MREs and had a bunch of laughs. I used the Gossman Tusker for fire prep. Im really liking this blade. Its a little out of the norm for me, but is becoming a favorite. I was too busy BSing and working on getting us a fire goin that I didnt take many pics. Iz shot some video while we were out though. I find that if im out with someone I take less pics cause im too busy flappin my jaws....lol

heres some pics....

Heres some of the shavings. I didnt take any more prep pics. lol

This is one of my favorite blades ever. Its been used a ton since I got it. From prying open a storm door, to opening paint cans, breaking down boxes, food prep, and even some leatherwork.

I made a new mask for my 19in Wett last week. Turned out good. I like the stud better then a snap.

It was alot of fun hanging with Iz, and nice to get out and get some dirt time. Makes me look forward to the Hardwoodsman meet in May.

Sounds like a great time. Love the leather overstrike protector on the Wett as well, very cool.

J awesome pics thanks for sharing. I share your love of Gossman knives. Scott's knives are built for hard use!

Thanks guys....

6shooter- Super easy to do. I used a leather coat I got from a thrift store, punched the holes and laced it with paracord. Theres a drop of cement to help keep it in place, but still removable and replaceable. I havent needed it yet, but ya never know. :D

great pics Jake.. looks like a nice day out.. wait till you folks see our new pad.. we are surrounded by woods..:)

nice work on that axe cover too bro...

Glad to see you had a good time out, Jake.

Wouldn't it have been a little more comfortable to turn your hat inside out and pile the shavings on the outside? Just askin'........

Thanks buddy, it looks great. When I drop the coin on an axe nice enough to deserve one, I think I'll do something similar. Looks classier than a paracord wrap or inner tube or something.

Thanks Doc.....Yeah, probably more comfy, but I rest the stick on the underside of the brim, so it tends to get worn there. Since its on the underside, its not noticeable.

Sounds like fun man, I would love to hang out with you two someday. You need to come Gosstoberfest next year!!

Or maybe put a pieceof bark over the brim to protect it after you turn it inside out.. Never mind, a splinter to your temple may help you.:p

Nice pics, bro! That is a good lookin' blade. I'm a big fan of the blade shape.

Thanks for sharing.

looks like a great time indeed! Spring coming up means some good potential woods time for me... hopefully!

what kind of backpack is that in the picture? the one with the axe attached.

Thats my Maxpedition Kodiak Gearslinger. I love that bag. Some guys dont like the sling style packs, but it doent bother me, and I like being able to swing it around to get in it w/o having to take it off....

I wish that we all lived close. Only bad thing about these places. You get to know guys who you would love to hang with, and its nearly impossable.

Im going to Gossmans. Vaca requests for me an Tina are already in. Iz I beleve is going to Canadiaistan during that time.....

Im waay to thick headed for a splinter to get through. :D

Yeah, I think about using something to protect the bill, but im lazy....Most of the time my prep goes everywhere but the dang hat, so Ive started throwin down the ground sheet to sit on while im doin my prep. A messy bushcrafter coaster. :D:thumbup:

Thanks guys....
