Ive been pretty sick since we got back from Cali, but felt pretty good today. So I decided to join a buddy of mine for a 40 mile ride, yes 40 miles. Along the Missouri River. Now, some might scoff at that distance, but on a singlespeed mountain bike, its pretty rough. Trust me. At the halfway point we decided to hike some trails in the area. Nothing big, just a few miles, but the terrain is pretty much vertical. Worth it for some of the views of the river valley though. Anyways, it was great. Spring is in full swing, weather in the 80s and sunny, and everything is so green. You can just smell the wild onions. This was a punishing ride, but totally worth the pain and sunburn.

Anyways, heres some pics.

more to come........

Used to do centuries on my dad's singlespeed GT Psychlone build all the time, I love em to death. They scream no hurry, enjoy yourself. Don't gotta constantly worry about the nitpicky shifters and deuraillers.

Looks like fun. If you must be in misery you may as well be along the Misery river.

Nice - I love the mayapples, can't wait for them to start popping up over here.

I dont know that guy, but I will keep my eye out for him. Shouldnt be hard to spot him!!! Im in jeff city quite a bit.

I really needed to get out today. Had a bad morning. Really gnarly wreck happened in front of me this am. Car vs. Semi. If you can believe it, the car won. The semi burned up on impact. It literally exploded. I tried to get close to get the guy out, but it was way too hot. Had to listen to him scream. Ill never forget it. Then I had to help the other guy who was really bad off in the car. What a way to start the day. I was off duty on the way home to take my kids to school.

Very cool. I hope you meet him, he's a great guy and an Eagle Scout so you may get along well.

The wreck with the semi sounds horrible. I drive as safely as possible but I see these wrecks often. Thanks for being out there doing your best.

Nice pics!

I have to get the bike out and start riding again.

There's a National Military Park near me that has tons of hiking and horseback trails, but doesnt allow bikes on almost any of the trails. No offense to the equestrians of the world, but it just doesn't seem fair to me. And my bike never leaves droppings on the trail.

That's a complete downer...poor bastards.

Nice pics, but one has to wonder "are you crazy?" You know, ten speeds have been around quite a few years now. Sometimes they even have more. ;)

Bikers vs equestrians. Old battle man. They are waaaaay harder on the trails then us. Its BS. Studies have shown that hikers do more damage to trails then bikers. It is getting better though. Gotta keep the faith and support the IMBA....

Yeah, Ive seen alot, but never a wreck as bad as that, and NEVER, right in front of me.

Bikes with gears???

Man...I am always amazed by the new technology. :D

Seriously though....Its just my style. :o I love the singlespeed. Fits me well.

Thanks Mike.....Thanks again for that Osprey bro. I like it as a hydro pack for biking. Im gonna make a better sleeve for the water bladder, it heats up pretty quick. Thinking a neoprine sleeve for it if I can find some...
