The knife was a custom I had made, to my exact specifications. I wanted a forged bowie with full tang micarta handles and a blood groove, but I couldn't find one, so I contacted a few custom knifemakers, and after reading their responses, I chose Mark Banfield in Canada.
Here is his website.
I actually purchased the Brown Canvas Micarta here in the USA, and had it shipped to him in Canada, for him to use as my handle material.
He does an awesome job. He pays special attention to be sure everything is perfectly aligned, and his knives are very tough. The guard fits perfect on the bowie.
You can see how tough Mark considers his knives here. That is a big reason why I chose him to make my bowie. Look at some of the knife testing he does, slicing knives right into an anvil.
I guess Im just too used to Busse knives! I finally have a custom knife made, and its got to have micarta handles, and be able to be seriously abused!
