Hey all, I recently sent the scales of my Ti Native to forum member Maprik for a new paint job.

I figured some of you may have been thinking about getting one of your Ti Spydies anodized so this may be of some help. If not, at least it's some good ol' fashioned Tuesday morning knife porn.

I went with the violet btw as I already have a bronzed Ti knife on the way.

Wow, that's really gorgeous.

Without sounding too stupid, is the purpose of anodizing for recoloration?

How do you tell, if the knife handles were not anodized from the factory?

I apologize, I'm a titanium newb.

That came out great!Where are you guys finding these Natives?I've been on a list for what seems like forever!

Red, the Ti anodizing merely changes the way the molecules on the surface of the knife reflect light wavelengths. There is no other change to the metal so yes, the process is just for recoloration. The only way you would be able to tell a factory job vs aftermarket job is the color hue. The factory probably has set colors that they do, blue, bronze, etc. and a specific voltage so every handle is the same. Unless perfectly matched the factory would probably be able to tell if a handle was anodized by a 3rd party.

That is really interesting, thank you for clearing that out Maprik :). I will most certainly get in touch with you for my own native ti once I'm financially sound.

And yes I'm looking forward to the pictures too =D.
