Well unfortunately I am in Washington DC for two weeks so I decided to make the best of it and visit my favorite Wood dealer on the East Coast. Fortunately Dunlap Woodcrafts in Chantily, VA is only a few miles from where I was working so I dropped by for an unannounced visit one day. And boy howdy did he have a big burl there, I asked Mr. Dunlap if he minded if I took a pic. I posed my friend next to it for scale, Mr. Dunlap and Daniel took the time to show us around for at least an hour or two. Unfortunately I forget what species wood this was, Maybe Burl source can chime in on his opinion. I purchased some cocobolo, loads of curly maple and a few hawk handles for future projects. It was a great visit to a great shop, if you guys are ever in the area you need to drop by, I hope you guys enjoy looking at the pics as much as I did taking them.
THe last pic is of a burl piece that was 3ft tall and just a real piece of art, both sides of this piece was a sight to look at. Personally if I could have afforded it I would have just placed it on a nice base and put it in the corner of my family room to look at.

Wouldn't I love to get that last piece cut into blocks and stabilized!

By the way, this guy's wood store looks a bit like the home-based shop of the guy I buy from locally. It sure is fun to go there and run through all his supply.

Man that last burl was just gorgeous, Im with you, that would look great just as a display piece. I would be like a kid in a candy store with all that nice wood around.
