Pics of missed model

I'm trying to get caught up on HI models introduced during my absence. I was so on top of all things HI for a couple of years, and now I'm playing catch up!

From reviewing old threads, specifically I eventually need to consider snagging a 15" Chit, a 15" 11-12 oz. "Snake" model and of course one of these new 15" Boomerang CAK's.

I saw a pic of Hollow's 15" chit, and recent threads show the 15" Boomerang CAK, but does anyone have any pics of the Bura "Snake" model?

(BTW, it appears that another change is that old pics of Yangdu's DOTD are no longer displayed. Used to be a very valuable research resource. I imagine it is a space issue here on the BF server...?)

Thanks!

Norm

Here you go Norm. I am not sure of the weight but they are both snake kukris and both made by Bura. If I recall correctly they are 15".

Those Snake models look like an old Khukuri I had that was made by Kesar back at Shop 2. Serial number 111. If they are as stout as the Kesar Khukuri I had they should be good choppers for their size. I was almost broke when those two went up for sale. Was so hard for me to not buy one. Sweet looking blades!!

yangdu's pictures were hosted by herself, and i think are still available on her site (the one that HI points to). i have them all archived at any rate. i should burn a set to CD/DVD just to make sure. i don't necessarily want them on my HD forever ;)

did you account for the new foxy folly variant?

Thanks Bladite! I'll check her site for them. That's helpful. The new FF is the one like Ted posted a pic of on the HI Pics thread, correct? The one in purpleheart? Has a contured handle and hidden tang, matching companion knife in an almost purple leather sheath?

I really like the looks of that model, but Yangdu mentioned in Jan. 2006 that all future FF's would be 28 oz. or so, and that is what I was trying to snag. The change in kami personnel hasn't helped with the supply, which I understand.

Yangdu offered me an antler new style a year ago with a companion knife and sheath, but it was 23 or 24 oz., and I have a 24 oz. FF so reluctantly declined. Still, the handle looks very comfortable, and the blade looks fast.

Outstanding Skyler, thank you! Less than an oz. per inch. Looks almost like a 15" sirupate (I'm out of those too. :( Should have kept stats on knives I used to own but didn't), but with no inlay and maybe a bit straighter and certainly much lighter. I particularly like the one on the right. Nice work.

yup, that one. nice companion knife (they should all have a good knife like
the sarge :>)

i briefly had a 27 ounce one, two at 26, and one at 24. never saw 28.

also one at 47 ;) :)

that new model is more of a EDC camper i think, not a chopper. 28 ounces seems too heavy to be tempting... not for heavy chopping.

The Snake Khukris look to me like they're a sirupati-kobra hybrid.

I like 'em.

One of about 20" - 25" would be a fierce battle khukri.

My thanks to you also Skyler. I picked up an older HI khuk at a gunshow & thought it was a Cobra but the cho was different. I see now it's a "Snake"

There have only been a handful of snake models, and all have been in the last 6 months. I am guessing you probably have a sirupati if the cho is like most other HI and the blade is slim.

OK, I was going by the available pics so I guess what I've got is an even slimmer than usual sirupati. Whatever it's name, I like it.
