I know these knives are very common, but for those newbies like me who might be interested (and didnt even know the 112 existed), Ive taken a picture of my Buck folding hunters for comparison. Ive used a Buck 110 as my hunting knife since the 1980s. It serves that purpose very well, and I will continue to use it for field dressing duties. Ive carried it at times depending on what activities Im doing, but generally find it a bit large for EDC. Still, maybe it was growing up in the period when the Buck 110 was so popular, but these Buck knives as we used to call them, are what I think of when I think of a pocket (or belt) knife. So, I thought it might be interesting to compare a 112 size wise, and maybe find a smaller version of my 110 for EDC. After receiving the 112, Im really happy with it, and it may become at least a member of my EDC. Also, although the pictures dont do them justice, or show how different they really look, the scales on the two 112 I just purchased are really nice in comparison to the scales on the 110. That is, the color and pattern on the scales. Dont know if Buck is tweaking their finish on the scales as the two 112s are dated 12-15-11, or if its just natural variation, but I really find the scales on the two 112s to be noticeably more attractive than those on all of the regular 110s Ive bought. I like the 112 so much that I ordered another to put away. I gave the second one I ordered to my son for Christmas. Also, although I like the nylon sheaths of the Walmart 110s more, the leather sheath that came with the 112 is very nice.
