This was my first kit knife I ever did, and the entire thing was done with minimal hand tools. Don't ask how difficult it was to get the handle cut-outs using files! I learned a LOT from this project, let's just put it that way! Cetan Tanto is by Rob Simonich and features a 3" long (7" OAL) ATS-34 blade that is 3/32" thick, I believe. Flat grind in a modified tanto pattern. Handles are burgundy/maroon Micarta with brass pins. I love that color of Micarta!

I forgot to ask you- why did you make it.
I just started a new topic on that, so I would love to hear your story on this knife.

Why? I wanted to make a knife instead of just buying them. I went with Rob's kit because he was just starting to get a lot of traffic here at BFC, so I jumped at the chance to get a kit knife for $50, a fraction of his finished version. I wanted to try my hand aty knifemaking, but not having skill or equipment for blade grinding I left that part up to someone who does! Same goes for the other three kit knives I pictured in the other threads...

Thats a cool knife. It will always hold a much more special place in your collection than if you had "just bought it".... I like that color Macarta too. I have a little Randall #10 that has that color Macarta. Where did you get it from????? Also I have been meaning to post this one, do you know where to get Rag Macarta, that multi colored looking stuff????

You can get the maroon micarta from KOVAL KNINES, the last rag micarta I purchased was
from SHEFFIELD,S KNIFEMAKERS SUPPLY.
