Finally made a rack to store my blades that are too long to fit in my toolbox. From the bottom:
30" Kobra
35" Tarwar
25" Sundang from Kris Cutlery
36" Sabre by Bura

Thanks for looking,

Steve

Thanks Wildmanh. It's 1.5" square oak & 3/4" oak dowels. Looked at some gun racks on Ebay, but this was simple to make, and much less expensive. <$20

How about some plans so I can try :footinmou to make one.....Looks easy enough to make.what angle are the dowels???;)

Steve - very nice collection. puts my lil woodchuck knives to shame...:D :p

In which part of the house is this displayed?

Is the wood raw or finished? (if still raw, some cherry stain would really show off the khuk handles...)

It does NOT! I love the carving knives that you put together for your dad. That was a cool project, especially the custom pins. This was just a 2 hour carpentry project so I wouldn't have my swords leaning in the corner or sitting on the couch. Ouch!

I put it in my computer/knife/book room that WAS the spare bedroom. Left the oak natural with clear polyurethane, since the bookshelves are clear finished pine. Wanted the rack to be subdued, putting the main focus on the swords.
Thanks

See ya!

ferguson,
Nice. Next time you my want to leave it with a bit more room for growth. :)

Hello Mr. Ferguson, I like your display and I love your Bura sabre, But I must say I feel a bit concerned that you have put oak next to steel,as oak contains tanic acid which etches {read corrodes!}iron, although a finish on the timber will reduce this it wont prevent tanic vapours slowley permeating though the surface, any humidity, condensation etc.will exsasabate this radicaly!
YOu dont find knife handles made of oak!

I guess if you polish your twice weekly it might never be a problem!

best wishes and regards to you,
spirals

Well I've got 8 pegs. If I get more, I'll put the scabbards in the closet!:D

Damn!:grumpy: Well you live and learn.:( If I start seeing problems where they touch, I'll convert it to a hat rack, or an umbrella rack and make another one. Thanks for the heads up Spiral.

OK
Buy 2 pieces of 1.5" square wood for the uprights, 36" long. Get 2 pieces of 3/4" dowel 36" long. Cut 16 4.5" pieces of dowel. Drill 8 holes in each upright at a 65degree angle about 1" deep. Drill 2 - 1/2" holes for mounting screws about 1" deep, then drill the rest of the way through for the screws. I plugged the screw holes with some wooden button plugs. Don't glue in the top peg until it's mounted to the wall, or you won't be able to get to the top mounting screw. Spiraltwista says don't use oak wood, as it will corrode the steel blades. Drawing is attached.

Ask and ye shall receive. ;)
