It just arrived in the mail today. I love it! I think it's the perfect BK2...I think I'll be selling my other BK2 now... Here are a few crappy iPhone pics of the new BK2 plus all of my other Beckers.

So it soundslike you prefer the Chestnut Ridge handles better than the Kabar micarta, huh?

I've always liked the stock grivory shape and thought those look kinda blocky. Of course I've never had them in hand.

Some people complain that the ESEE scales are too blocky but I acquired a 3 MIL recently and like the grip quite a bit.

Anyways, thanks for the photos!

I like the idea of black micarta, but I will say that those look a bit too blocky for me.

A question on the color. Do the photos accurately portray the color of the handles?

Yes.. I prefer the look and feel of the Chestnut Ridge handles. I also really like the kydex sheeth.

Looks great! I wish there was solid black or grey handles in the Kabar micarta shape.

Nice Beckers,If I was you I would trade the extra 2 for a 9.

Thanks for the heads up. I like the idea of black micarta, but I think I'd want more of a black look from them. Maybe something more like dark grey. Maybe I'll try my hand at my own sometime.

And I never knew that there were other micarta makers out there for the beckers, so thanks for the heads up :).

I think there are some if grey/black micarta handles in the kabar micarta shape on eBay...they are paper micarta though. I don't know if that makes any significant difference or not. I'm planning to pick up a set for my bk7.

Actually, you read my mind.. The bk9 is the next one that I want...a trade deal is probably what I'll be looking for. Otherwise, I'll just sell it and pick up a new bk9.

I think that these could easily be darkened to a dark grey or black. The kabar micarta scales just seem to turn dark brown when dyed, which I don't like.

I will take the extra 2 off your hands ;).

Cool pictures and I like that sheath, I usually dont care for kydex but I like that one.

A question on the color. Do the photos accurately portray the color of the handles?

Actually, I'm now comparing them to the pics and they are quite a bit darker in person. I think the light from my desk lamp made them look lighter in the pics.

The handles will get a lot darker with some use. A bit of fat, some sweat from your hands, rain, all these things darken micarta up quite a bit. When I received my ESEE-4, the handles were light gray, now they are almost black.

Just added two new pics (3rd and 4th pics from the top) that I think more accurately represent the color of the handles.

Thanks for the updated photos. They do seem a bit darker in those.

And matheor, thats kind of what I assumed as well. That they would darken over time.

I guess someday I'll have to break down and try to figure out what all of the hoopla about micarta is about. I guess I could always get these and sand them down until they looked like the stock handles :D.

Those look pretty sweet. Doe the run the same price as the other micarta options?

Unfortunately you can't buy these micarta scales from Chestnut Ridge separately. You have to purchase the whole package, BK2, scales and kydex sheeth for $129. They also throw in the standard oem sheeth that typically comes with the BK2. Very nice looking BK2 set up.

I just got off the horn 5 minutes ago with the chestnut ridge folks..very nice and helpful folks over the phone.

Ordered an Ontario Ranger Falcon and kydex sheath to hold me over until the Becker Tweeners come out.

Seems like a smaller BK2, micarta handles, 1/4" steel with edc capability for its size. We'll see.

You could try tung oil to darken the scales. I'm furiously debating whether to put it on my black phat bob micarta scales; theyr'e kind of a dark grey and I wouldn't mind 'em being darker. But they feel so so nice that I don't want to do anything that might change that.
