I ordered this about three weeks ago from Knife Center of the Internet. They were super helpful, as always. Five stars for service. This is the new production model 124 Frontiersman. I've also did a comparo shot with another fixed blade I have, a Case slab side.

The 124 is a very chunky knife, in all respects. Fit and finish is very nice. It's a glossy satin, it's not a mirror polish like the Case.)

Great comparo pics and terrific cutlery. The 124 is one of my favorites for its size and quality of build. I wish that I could EDC one. Really. Thank you.

I thought by the title "SE" that I would see serrations...

I said "SE" for Special Edition but I should have put "LE" for limited edition, which is what it says on the box. Which I should have taken a shot of (I'm not really a collector, er, well, um, yeah..)

Cool. I did not know about these. Nice to see micarta handles, not the usual composition

Man that is sweet. I love that polished micarta handle. Congrats on your purchase.

That's a heck of a knife at the price point.... any in hand pics? :)

Looks like a hollow grind to me....... plus thick micarta slabs? Good on Buck for bringing this model back and sparing no expense

I just received my Buck 124 this afternoon. I think it has an almost perfect shape for a large knife.
I like everything about it except..... The handle feels like you're holding a chair leg. It is husky.
I have medium to large hands. I forget what size now, but I always buy large size gloves, and they fit well.
This handle is slightly uncomfortable to grip right now.. I'm sure I can get used to it though. Either that or take a Dremel Tool to it. Does anyone know if micarta buffs like wood, or would it chip?

I like the looks of the 124. I just love the Micarta, as well as the full tang. All in all it's got a very useful, and substantial, but not overbuilt blade profile.

Below, top down, is a 120 General, 124LE Frontiersman, and 119 Special for size comparison;

Marginally shorter than the 120, the 124LE is definitely the beefier - one 'moose' of a knife!

I have the old version of the 124 and always felt the same way about the grip.
I modded mine years ago, cut down the top guard, rounded the handle, even flat ground it. I really need to polish it up and take some pics.
Just rounding the handle improves the feel tremendously!

I've had one since the 1990s. They make great camp knives and can take everything you throw at them.

The Micarta is very easy to work using standard woodworking tools - in fact it is one of my very favorite scale materials to work with. Go for it!
