terrible pics, daylight ran out. i've never burned something that wasn't flat, so the second side came out way cleaner than the first. tightened the head, sharpened the edge, and wrapped it with what little black 550 i had on hand, gotta order some more. might go with maroon.

finish will be done my favorite way: use. i may coat the head down the road, might stain it, might just get a second one and start over.

drew it in pencil, then traced it with the iron. decided i will spend some more time on this thing tomorrow. gotta run to the art shop.

Cool,
I have a Poll Axe on the way. Im thinking about letting my brother (the artist) do some Ruins with a woodburner on the handle.

if he turns you down, i'm much more comfortable doing it now that i've done it twice and you can send it my way.

did i mention the new edge on that thing shaves? i was making pigtails of my mail.

Thanks man, I appreciate the offer.
There are some really decent folks on this site.
By brother is usually more than happy to help me with anything that requires any type of artist tallent.

As for the edge, I cant attest to how well they hold up,as I havent really tested them long term yet, but you can damn sure get those jokers sharp!

here are some picks of the grind shop. not much to it. 80 grit on the sander, 600 grit on the mousepad, leather belt.

very nice. i had a wood burning set when I was kid, was pretty handy with it too...seeing that makes me want to dig up my old iron and burn some of the vine design that the elves in Lord of the Rings have on most of their stuff...shit..now I've fooled right around and found myself a weekend project. I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY, MISTER!

do you use the kukri machete much? I bought one, then returned it for something else before I ever used it. I like the wood burning design a lot.

Does anyone know something about ink-printing on wood? As with corncob pipes when the wood stems are printed with ink so they appear to be cob. Seems it would be easier to do.

Very nice. Have you considered cutting the shaft down a wee bit?

considered it, but it feels like that light head needs the leverage supplied by the extra length. i may try it down the road.

that machete is the only one i own and it stands right beside my best chopping knives from him imp and busse. with the convexed edge, it can make wood shavings now too. tough to beat that for $18.
