The gf and I carved a couple of pumpkins up last night. I used the Paramilitary for some of it, but on the tricky parts I had to use a small serrated knife to navigate the corners. My pumpkin was about 2.5 inches thick so it took forever! Anybody else carving any this year? I also wanted to do a Spyderbug pumpkin but ran out of time. Maybe next year.

Much more elaborate than the one that my son and I did. Well, he did it all.

We used a Shrade Sharpfinger and a Spyderco paring knife. The thin blade of the Spyderco worked great and was flexible enough to make curving cuts.

I just got a pumpkin last night that I plan on carving today. There's a good chance it will turn out badly.

Good job! For years, I've been searching out "atypical" pumpkins and carving them into fantastic monsters. I've made tyrannosaur heads, crocodiles, and suchlike. You need the warped, flattened pumpkins for this.

Unfortunately, most of the outlets around here have been carrying only the "sincere" pumpkins; the odd-shaped ones are hard to find.

If you grow zucchini in your vegetable garden, grow a couple of monster huge ones at the end of the season to carve into bizarre elongated faces.

Nice job. Now for the blasphemy: I've found that those pumpkin carving saws allow for a lot more control and are a heck of a lot safer then a knife for carving pumpkins...:o

Nice job! But, why wait 'till next year? There's a whole week before Halloween?

Thanks for all the compliments. We did save and roast the seeds. I still may do a Spyderco one, but I've got a busy week ahead of me so I doubt it.
