I'll have more later... big week ahead! I have 14 knives that are almost completed.

Sneak preview! Wabocho

I brewed beer this weekend, a strong ale. Here's my grain grinder for all grain brewing!

Daniel, what a nice teaser pic! 14 knives is nuts!

Hope the beer turns out great. That's something I've had interest in doing. Now that I have some shop space, maybe I'll read up :)

I'm making some magnetic kitchen knife racks, here is the rough wood I just got in. There is no finish yet and it already looks good!

Curly Red Leaf Maple, Birdseye maple, East Indian Rosewood... this is the wood most guitar fretboards are made from, in fact these are all fretboard blanks. The maple is the next most commonly used but it is rare to see any this nice!

Thanks! Lots are nearly complete. I have 15 kitchen knives behind those and 8' of kiridashis just started...

Beer - I have made about 60 batches of beer and wine as it used to be a big hobby of mine. Just let me know if you have any questions, it is a really fun hobby. 1-2 days a month and you can have a few cases of beer... I want to make a 5 gal batch once a month.

I'm doing two great beginner beers next, a Brown Ale and a Wheat Beer. Both are relatively simple to make and have a very short wait time until completion. I'll start a thread for them when I do.

Ooo, I like the accent stripe in the handle!

Thanks! I'm really happy with it, it was tough to do but stands out.

I made some prune-o once. It's quality was on par with my knifemaking. :D

Those boards are sick! I've got a big thing for nice woods.

I like the spacer on the teaser too. What is it? I was looking at the engnath site and he said that any hard plastics can be reporposed for thin spacer material, including packaging materials. I'd worry about it scratching or dent/notching so I'd probably use g10, but I found it interesting. :)

Pruno, lol! :barf: I read about that stuff when I was much younger and made my first batch! kool-aid was involved...

The wood is top-notch, I considered keeping it and having it stabilized for scales... next time I'm ordering more!

I wouldn't doubt it on the spacers, back in the day soldiers used all sorts of recycled plane parts and other plastics to re-handle knives... I have one that is super cool. Vulcanized paper is a common one as seen on Loveless knives but it isn't as stable as G10. (so I hear)

The spacer material is G10, from what I know the thinner sizes are a relatively new thing. I will be using red, black and white liners with a lot of the wood!

Hope my Petty is somewhere in the pile of Kitchen knives! Wood for the racks looks great.

Much appreciated!

I have about 6 different Petty shapes in the works... my wife is trying to keep them all though! lol I told her one in 52100 and one in AEBL for now... :D

I say Petty (small Chef or large Parer) and they run the range style wise, each one an all around user... some with taller blades, longer blades, etc.

I've worked with the vulcanized paper, in fact I still have a few sheets. I really don't care for it. It's slightly hygroscopic and isn't as stiff as I'd like. It can mushroom at the edge too, but at least it's pretty if done right.

I'd send it to ya, but I doubt you'd want it! :) As for thin g10, they didn't have it at the supply place that I bought all my crap from a few years back. That's not to say that it wasn't available, but I never saw it.

beer me. wouldn't want to break the chain. fire. . . and stop.

one knife picture. SERIOUSLY O_O lol jfwy can't wait for the tidal wave!

Would be nice to receive a growler of beer with each DFK purchase, since you have so much free time on your hands!:D
