Played sniper with the local wildlife, only got one before the others moved to areas I couldn't shoot. One critter is better than none though I reckon, and it gave me a chance to use my sebbie.

Perfect shot between the shoulder blades from above and out of the chest. .17 HMR was the caliber of choice.

Here he is cleaned up. Sebbie did great, but as with any pocket knife blood and guts got in all the hard to reach places of the knife. Now the squirrel is soaking in salt water in the fridge. Will be hitting the grill along with steaks and shrimp come monday.

I hate cleaning squirrels, there's always so much hair left on the meat.

Thanks rat.

That's true crone. Whatever doesn't come off in the sink while blasting em down with water or while he's soaking will come off while in the pressure cooker. Gotta pressure cook em a little while before throwing em on the grill.

I always had 'em fried when I lived in Kansas. We didn't have much to eat besides that. Well, some quail and rabbit, I guess. And turtle soup. :)

We normally make squirrel dumplings with em, had em fried a couple times. This will be the first time I've ever grilled a squirrel.

The gray squirrels go to the dogs where I'm from and we don't kill the red ones, we eat wood pigeons though. Those fat bar stuards always break the tops off my nice spruce trees. :grumpy:..... :p:thumbup:

My buddy shot one in the woods and I made him eat it. I skinned & gutted it, he said it tastes like teriyaki chicken lol.

Nice shot!
gotta love the 17.
I too hate cleaning the little devils, i just can't find a good technique like i have for deer.
A buddy of mine is able to peel em like he's taking off a sock after just a few cuts, keeps most of the hair off of the meat. I'm going to have to watch him do it one more time before i attempt it and rip one in half.
Enjoy your dinner.
