This one's blade is shaped somewhat differently from the HI website's model (the latter of which looks more like the Koras from Uncle Bill's pictures). Also, the hilt is a Persian-like pistol grip, rather than the disk guard & pommel on the HI model.

This is supposed to be from 'North India,' which might mean south of Nepal, so the difference might be the result of ethnographic variation.

Here's the site: http://www.liongate-armsandarmour.com/bq163.htm

ruel, I can't tell the difference between real and faked antiques. But if this is real it is a beautiful old kora and if it is not real it is a beautiful job of faking.

Thanks for the link. It is really a great looking kora. I like it a lot.

Khukuri FAQ

Thanks Uncle Bill. I wouldn't mind too much if it is a fake; I bought it for artistic merit rather than its resale value. Plus, I needed something Indo-Nepalese to keep my Garud and Hanuman Khukuris company, when I finally get the money to order them!

Since this is a sword thread, may I ask if you have decided if HI will be offering a Khanda in the future? I remember you saying something about the possibility some time ago, but I think I missed your answer...Thanks,
ruel

WOW, Smoke! Only $25?! Why can't I ever find deals like that?

Let us know how it performs when you get it. I really like tulwars; just waiting for the right one to come along...
