Somebody had a couple of these for sale at knifeforums. Have yet to see them anywhere else. I wanna see a picture. Anybody?

Thanks. They must have just got this up. I could swear I looked for it here yesterday. Beautiful - I think I like it better than the prototype.

looks like really usefull design. Next on my to-get list. A head to head test against Becker cu7 would be interesting.

The first thing I thought when I saw this at the Blade show was, "that's a Busse!" If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then Jerry Busse must feel really complimented.

I really like the handle on this knife a lot. There is no "parrot beak" which is a pinky biter when chopping and it has a large finger coil in the handle which really gives you a gaurd like feeling without the weight or thumb limitations.I tell you somethin else I have been using mine this weekend and it cuts viciously. It has a great thin edge that doesnt chop but slices right through saplings up to 1 inch with no hesitation.A high grind edge just works.I also did some moderate prying with no probs and the tip is perfect which allows penetration but is still sturdy enough to take abuse.I popped mine out of a hard pine log time after time with no prob's.For the money this blade costs it can not be beat for all that it has(my opinion).

Is 1095 steel the same steel that becker uses? After using my BK-9 to chop down 3" bamboo trees(?) this weekend, I'm a little skeptical that this knife is work 2x the price. The Becker may be UGLY, but it's DAMN functional. I can chop a full beer can in half and leave the bottom half in place.

What makes you think that? There's no busse-like talon holes and the knife as a whole doesn't look like a busse design at all. There have been knives with micarta scales and drop point blades long before BUsse came along! Give me a break dude.

the choil design is somewhat similar and the handle ergos are also kinda Busse-ish, i suppose. either way, relax. he's just offering his opinion/experiences. you'll live.

Alot of knives feature ergonomic handles and choils. Even if they do look similar on first sight, there's alot of difference. There is no imitation. Once you'll hold rat7 I'm sure it won't feel like a Busse, it'll just feel better.

The RAT 7 is going to sell for about $70.00. That is not twice the price of the Becker BK-9. The Becker is a very good knife, but I find the handle more comfortable on the RTAK than on the BK-9. I have not held the RAT 7 yet, but from what I can see the handle will be very much the same as the one on the RTAK.

No, 1095 and 0170-6C are not the same steel. 0170-6C is actually the same as 50100-B. 50100-B is basically 52100 with 1/3rd the chromium and a little vanadium added.

My thoughts exactly. Busse doesn't hold the patent for drop point blades my friend.
