Could someone tell me how to post a picture without having it as a link or attachment? I have heard it has to be at a photo hosting site or something. If it is on my own website can I do it from there? I am computer ignorant for the most part so please explain so a dumby can understand. Thanks.

If you already have the picture on your own website all you have to do is click on the "insert image" icon above the box you type your post into and paste in the url of the picture. The "insert image" icon is in the middle and yellow; it looks to me like a yellow envelope with a stamp in the corner.

If you'd rather do it manually the syntax is (img)paste url here(/img) with square brackets [] instead of parentheses ().

Thanks for the help but I still can't get it to work. I followed your instructions but I only get a red x. Any idea why?

Because your host is not serving indirect requests. When you use the img code, you generate an indirect request where the bladeforums server goes to the server on the site where the picture is hosted and says, "let me borrow that picture so that I can insert it into my own stuff." Why would a server decline an indirect request? Usually because that server makes it money by putting advertisments around the picture in question so they don't want to give it away. However, Mr. Booger, I can't help but notice that you are a gold member. That means you can click on the "Manage Attachments" button below the post window and upload a picture to the bladeforums.com server directly thus elliminating this problem.

It's not quite that easy, it has to be under 100K in size and their is a height and width limit too.
