Could any of you bigtime BM collectors show me these two knives together? I know I want an AFCK for my collection and I'm not worried that it's a big knife but I'm curious just how big? I have a Torrent so that's my common data point. Thanks!
I saw your request but it took me awhile to be able to dig the knives out and take even a quick iphone photo. I tried to position these so that the end of the handle lines up with the board of my deck so you can get a good comparison of blade lengths and handle lengths.
I'm not sure that I think the standard AFCK is overly big. I carried a mini-AFCK for awhile and I thought it was a bit small. The AFCK is pretty long, both the blade and handle. The knife is thin and light, the blade is not very wide, and the handle even seems a bit small with that cutout for your first finger. I have a ZT 0561 and I consider it to be a big knife but it is comfortable in my hand and is no problem to carry in my pocket. I've been carrying my Benchmade 760 all week and in some ways I consider it a bigger or more substantial knife than the AFCK because it has a thicker and wider blade, and is heavier. It is a good size for my carry and use and is a bit heavier than average among my current EDC rotation while the AFCK is probably right at average in weight.
My hands are medium-sized and the handle of the Torrent almost seems too short for me depending on how I hold it. The Paramilitary handle is long enough, maybe a bit longer than it needs to be for me. The pointed end of the AFCK sticks out of my hand a good amount, 3/4" or so.
