Here ya go, nearly identical, with the griptilian possibly having a TINY bit more cutting edge, easier to see in person than in the picture. I tried to line up the start of the cutting edges for the picture.
I was going to post a new thread about the Torrent I just bought, but maybe this is my opportunity instead.
I usually research all of my knives quite a bit before purchasing, because lets face it they're not cheap, and I enjoy it. I knew what I was getting into when I bought this knife from the reviews I had read, and despite quite a few negatives being pointed out by owners, I decided to finally buy one mostly because I really loved the design and thought it was great looking. After having it for about a week here's a quick breakdown from my perspective:
Positives
- Awesome pocket clip if you like deep carry and don't mind tip down.
- great blade shape, especially if your fond of a simple design
- scales and pommel are subdued yet attractive
Negatives
- lower end blade steel for its price point
- blade is noticeably off centered, although not rubbing the liner
- excessive blade play when not adjusted just right (see below)
Deal Breakers
- Pivot is so sensitive to adjustment, takes VERY little torque on the screw and blade doesn't want to operate correctly or smoothly. Pivot wants to constantly loosen, I will have to lock tight it, which I haven't had to do on any other benchmade I own
- The liner lock moves WAY too easily. The knife has already unlocked on me twice when just playing around with it. I wont go as far as to say that its unsafe when using it under normal circumstances with a normal grip, but it would be the last knife I grabbed for if I knew I was in for some medium to heavy cutting tasks. I have never encounter a liner lock that unlocked this easily, and I have a collection of about 80 folders.
- The scales, although nice looking, are completely smooth, offering almost nothing in the form of grip. I didn't expect a lot of texture, but was disappointed when there was ZERO.
I have 11 benchmade folders, and this one is the only non axis-loick, it's also the only one I considered returning right out of the box.
At the end of the day I will keep the knife because of it's coolness factor, and work on it to try and alleviate the pivot and blade play issues, but I would never consider it for anything more then light duty edc tasks.
Anyway just my observations, hope this helped.
