I started by stripping the blade and all the parts with stripper from walmart and scraped the remaining finish off with my voyager. Then I took my dremel and done some indents on the spine to add some character. I then took some olive drab rust-oleum and sprayed the handles. I will give an update on how well the paint is holding up in a few weeks. I am proud of how everything except of how light the paint is. I wish it was a little darker. Let me know what you think.

Everything but the paint looks good. The shiny lime-ish color just doesn't do it. Get yourself a can of Krylon ultra-flat olive drab asap. I don't know how G-10 would react to stripper, so I don't know whether you should try to remove the shiny paint first or just paint over it.

I agree it is way to shiny. I will try what you mentioned and give an update soon! Thanks for the input mate!

Lol! That is for the little one. I appreciate it! My Dremel slipped a few times and I scratched the blade so I buffed it out as much as I could without taking away the natural looking stonewash of the blade

Personally I like that green a lot more than the boring olive drab you see all the time.

I think it looks great, i just dont know how well the handle paint is going to hold up. it might start to wear, leaving paint in the deeper pockets,& black on the surface..

Your little AK looks good, my favorite part is the spine work you did and the painted scale looks just fine. It's your own custom CS!
