25-1.jpg25-2.jpg25-3.jpg25-4.jpg25-5.jpgAnother update on the 25. Bored at work, I took it apart. The jist of it, it is easy to disassemble and reassemble. Large Pivot was about 6 5/8 Turns to coming apart. Stop pin and lanyard rear pin were 5 turns/full rotations til freedom. The bottom of the back pin/lanyard rear has a male screw on top and bottom. Only the top is necessary for removal of the top piece of titanium though. Lockbar is holding up great with the ceramic ball. No visual wear on the blade either. Easy to clean, seems as though there was a little loctite on the pivot screw, and since I am fresh out here at work I used a little New Skin Liquid bandage to fasten it back up. Works just fine! Enjoy the pics!

Very cool - thanks for sharing!

I really like the idea of the ceramic ball as a harder and more durable surface to bear against. That's forward thinking at it's finest.

And, the larger shim on the lock bar side has to make the pivot much stronger and more consistently aligned. However, that custom made shim has to be seriously expensive to make.

You mentioned there was loctite. Can the pivot bolt be completely tightened and seated, or does the torque effect the tightness of the pivot joint?

Too tight and it locks down. Glad I counted revolutions before taking apart. Just like an Umnumzaan. I do miss the bushing system on the 21. It does make it a bit smoother to open than the 25. But I do love the 25! It fits the hand just so nicely.

Is the stop pin one piece or is there still a sleeve over the post? Looks like it's not perfectly cylindrical in the third pic, like there's a purposeful flat spot. Am I just seeing things?

There is a sleeve over the stop pin. I didn't try to remove it. It was fairly tight. Yes, your eyes were not deceiving you there is a flat spot on the sleeve for the stop pin. Seems to act as a stop for the blade when it is in the closed position.

Thanks for the pics!? It looks like the washer on the lockbar side has a "hook" that sits in a hole to keep it form rotating. Is this the case? If so, I guess that means you have to assemble the knife working from the back scale up (unlike the 21 where you assemble the handle and slide the blade and washers in).

yes, the lockbar side washer has a hook to keep it from spinning and to allow more coverage than the 21, It just prevents it from spinning. When reassembling I did start from the bottom/back side up. You dont have to worry about pinched washers by reassembling this way. But like the 21 you have to tighten down the lock pin and rear lanyard pin before tightening the pivot. Failure to do so will cause the blade to be off center when closed. Done correctly, every thing centers up very nicely.

good news!
how's the blade tang? on the UM the detent ball makes a groove on the tang, and remains the same %

The 5th pic of my first post shows slight wear on the tang but I couldn't feel a groove on the blade as of yet. The lock up is the same every time because of the ceramic ball. It is deep and makes it feel rock solid. You will like it. Only thing I would change is a small blade bushing to give it that traditional sebenza smoothness. Otherwise I like it more than my 21's

Wow, I never thought I would see one of those as a user! Thanks for the pics; I was curious about the teardown.
