Im sure theres a thread there but I did not find it.

If you want to sell or trade something why would you not
post pictures.

I like to window shop and sometimes Im an IMPULSIVE buyer / trader.

Atleast post a link.

Because your idea of new / lightly used might be compleatly different than mine

Stop being lazy or tech ILLITERATE.

done with my rant

Buying something sight unseen from a complete stranger wouldn't be to smart. I love pictures but if they don't exist, choose not to buy it.

Because it's a brand new in box item that's very common and in a price range that's not subject to much F&F scrutiny. For some people time is extremely valuable and the effort to take and upload a few photos, although minimal, is not worth it when selling a low-value item.

I have sold several items on this forum without posting pictures, without issue.

Laws and mandates should only exist when they are necessary for maintaining the equality and well-being of the masses. There is no need for such a rule as all sales in this form are discretional.

And there you go. The moderators have full time jobs (plus more) riding herd on this forum and don't need to take care of every little detail that should be dealt with using common sense. No one makes you buy a knife. It seems it would be easy enough to go on past the sellers you think are "lazy" or "ILLITERATE". Why would you want to deal with people like that anyway?

Sometimes being completely responsible for one's self is a good thing.

Sheesh.

One problem is that many knives have more than one variant: handle color, plain - combo - serrated blade, large or small. One picture can solve all these questions.

Sometimes neither the buyer nor the seller is aware of these variants and each assumes the one he knows is the one the other is talking about.

I cast my tiny little vote for requiring photos. It would be easy enough to do. I've been on other forums that required photos, no photos and they would delete your post.

The only things that has to be mandatory are dying or breathing. There are those who if breathing were not an involuntary action would suffocate. I'm sure if I needed to could find an image of anything online, an image doesn't prove a single thing IMO.

uxo2 , I may get some flack for this suggestion but, try bookmarking a few exchanges so when you feel like window shopping you have an online mall.

I know what its like to have knife money. Sometimes this place isn't enough. Sorry BF

Every fourm I am a part of requires photos...a few clicks isn't that difficult and it helps sell am item beside.

The more info, the better it is for both sides.

Oh, man, a big thumbs up on that!

It's not primarily the seller's responsibility to inform you, it's the buyer's responsibility to avoid uninformative ads, although Bladeforums Exchange rules do say,

When describing your items, be honest and provide an accurate & detailed description of the item. Don't forget to mention defects, blemishes, new, used, or other problems. When in doubt, be pessimistic with your descriptions. If you have a problem being honest, upfront, and are unable to honor your word then you do not belong here.

Provide as many photos as possible, in the best lighting possible. It's always nice for buyers to see what they are going to get. Threads with pictures sell items faster than those without.

I think it should be mandatory for new guys to learn how to use the search function before they post.

We're not going to require photos. If they choose not to, it's their problem if it doesn't sell.
