Pictures X Out in some Forums

I'm new and coming across some forums where all the attachments are red X'd. Do you need to be at a certain member to see those pics

External picture hosting services only keep hosting pictures for so long.

If you want a picture to be permanent. You pay for the service of storing it on the server of the host website.

It may also be that the pictures are no longer available.

For example I run all my pictures through my gold account and with limited space some old ones go to make room for the new.

Alot of people run with a hosting service like imgur and have a lot more space available to leave them up indefinitely.
