About a month or so ago, I went to Larry Nowicki's shop to heat treat a large blade. While I was there he and I (mostly he :D ) forged this knife out of a piece of coil spring (5160 steel). This is where I'm at so far. I've got the blade ready for heat treat and the parts almost ready for assembly. I still need to drill a hole in the elk tine for the tang. I actually did a convex grind with no plunge lines. It has a nice distal taper also. I may cut and cap the end of the antler.

Whew, I got the parts all ready to be assembled after HT. Now I know why i don't do hidden tang knives, what a pain the butt getting the hole drilled and filed to accomadate the tang. I drilled an 1/8" hole through the antler and tang for a pin to help secure it along with the epoxy. I'll post a pic when it's finished. I hope to get it done and take to Blade.
