Hi folks,

Going to be on the Big Island in Waimea the last week of June.

Visiting my brother that moved there 15 years ago, but he is not a hunter.

I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with a Pig Hunt. Would prefer a hunt with a knife or spear, but Bow/rifle/shotgun will do.

I have an appropriate knife I can ship but would prefer not to ship my bow, rifle or shotgun.

Anyone from that part of the world that can help me out?

Thanks,

Carl-

If I was still living on the Big I I would help you out. There are some guides available out of Waimea I believe. Jon Sabati or something is one of them. Look up parker ranch, they will let you shoot sheep, pigs or feral cattle. The public land hunting is where the Big Island shines. But You woul dneed to bring a bow or firearm with you for that. Let me know if you have any more specific question.s

Thanks Evbouret.
I will check it out.

TDRussell,

What better forum could there possibly be for hunting a pig with a knife than one named "Bladeforums"?

Check the RAT forum. The second or third person involved in a RC-6 passaround had a great photo spread of a pig hunt in HI. If you could contact that member, he could help you out.

check out the hog board on jh, mostly california guys...but theres 3 or 4 guys from the big island on there. good luck.

hawaiisportsman has a bunch of guys from big i that hunt with dogs. Offer to pay their gas, buy lunch, a bag or two of dogfood, 12 pack, whatever (100$?). I'm sure somebody would take you if you ask nicely.

Oh, if you're planning on chasing dogs...you better be in tip top shape.

Sounds great!

I'll start running tomorrow! Hahaha

I'm in decent shape, but will work up over the next few weeks. thanks.
