Made this one for a Phillip Patton pig sticker. 9" blade.
Nicest knife I've had the pleasure to work with.
I delivered it to the owner today and he gave me gold stars and bought lunch.

Nice, Ray! Color, styling, and finish all the very best. Also a very interesting tooling pattern. A+ all around.

Thanks Paul!!!

WOW...an A+ from the master....I believe I'll call it a day on that note!

Ray,

Did you fold the belt loop over, and the use it as part of the welt taper? How far does the belt loop go into the sheath?

Sorry for all the questions - I don't make sheaths like this and I want to.

Tal...I have no problemo with your questions, as long as I know the answers:D

Yes, the belt loop is folded down into the sheath about 3" and skived to zero taper...it is not part of the welt, the welt is a totally different layer.
There is also a spacer piece of leather at the opening, right behind the welt, this provided a layer for the back of the guard to rest (as you look at the front) and forms a more uniform opening. This spacer also extends down about 2" into the sheath and skived to zero taper. So there are 5 layers of 8-10oz leather at the opening; front panel, welt, spacer, and folded over belt loop.
Hope this is clear.
