Piggy backing

Ive seen it done here a few times. but why piggy back knives? I understand packs... E&E on the back of a main pack, I understand piggy backing the firesteel on the knife (thats what I do with a rat firekit and RC5), but the knife on knife makes no sense to me. Someone care to explain?

Here is my piggy back, I just loaded it up for a few hikes prior to the elk hunt. So far its gone on a short 5 mile trek and will be going out tomorrow night, just received it Tuesday via UPS, but as with everything Kifaru its cost money but you will not regret it. Makes the 78 lbs feel like 25.

EDIT to add, I just pulled one of my Izulas a RC4, RC6, and RC3 out of the safe, it appears using my calibrate micrometer eyeballs, that the pair of holes across the front of the Izula blade are the same distance as the the 4 "middle holes" on the RC3, the 6 "middle holes" in the RC4, and the 6 "top holes" of the RC6. Again this was done with a calibrated eyeball, which may have the same results as the local racers "calibrated ass dyno" for horsepower and torque numbers.

Yeah the holes should all match because they are molle compatible. Most guys piggy back in camp so they have both a small and larger blade ready at hand. I often use two sizes of blade also while landscaping. I have grown to like knives better than shears for light pruning ans enjoy having a larger blade at hand when needed
