Hey all, I posted pics of my Eskabar last night after I finished polishing it up and putting a patina on it. Here is what I did next.

The BK2 in the standard sheath has a gap on the underside that helps to cause the fold-over when you wear it on your thigh and you unsnap the retention snap. Well I already stiffened up the nylon loop by doing some stuff way back when, and if you put something in there to lessen that gap, it helps as well. So why not stuff another knife in there? :D

I kinda did it as a joke, but it puts the knife in a handy place and does actually help with the BK2 sheath so I may end up leaving it.

Looks good like that, is it hard to "re-sheath" the eskabar while wearing the whole rig on your belt?

No, not really. There are a few factors playing into that though. First off the sheath that it came with is pretty loose, and I haven't managed to get it heated and more properly molded to the knife yet. Once I do that it might change drastically.

Second the inner tube I have stretched over the BK2 nylon belt loop is pretty grippy, and helps to hold everything in place against my hip.

Third, I also wear a thigh strap with this thing, so that helps to hold it all together.

I am still working on a better way to get it attached, but for now it works. I hope to have it more stable though, and not swiveling on that one chicago screw. Once I get to that point I will post up some more pics.

Absolutely awesome!!! I'm not laughing... even if it started out as a joke:)

I like function, looks like it may be awkward to re-sheath it but who cares? Not like you'll be putting it back in the sheath for a while once its out anyhow:p

DerekH if it came with the cord/rope that's similar to paracord you can use that to stop the rattle completely..

What I did was cut a piece about an inch long and pushed it down the sheath about where the tips belly would be and whala.. Done deal.. much easier then heating it up and possibly making things rub in a wrong way.. :D

take care

neat!

now strap a BK13 to the lid :)

Okay folks, made a slight change to it. Turns out if you put it on the other side, you get two very nifty benefits. First off it is WAY more comfortable, easier to draw and resheath, and pulls out with the blade away from the rest of the setup. Second, if you angle it just right, you get a matchup between two of the holes, so you can actually secure it properly.

Sorry for the crappy pic, twas from the phone.

Actually, when I first got done with the 14, I had it strapped to the lid. Didn't stay very well, so I briefly debated whether or not to 3D up a new one with holes to attach it. Thought against it though, it would have been very unwieldy.

Derek I love that box. I was thinking of piggybacking but EsKabar on my BK2 as well. Seems like a really good combo. I also like your idea of the inner tube on the belt loop. That needs to get done this weekend.

Oh but wait, there is more. If you look at my stats, you should be able to find the thread I started (they are thankfully not that many at this point) where I detailed that particular mod. Basically it is sewn up right under the rivet for the retention strap so as to accommodate a credit card sized object. That object being a credit card sized fresnel-lens. More storage plus stiffening of the overly large belt loop? Hell yeah. Next level knife-mod maneuver. Roll one up homie.
