Hey all

Just occurred to me I only have one smaller busse and its not really a user. Was wondering if anyone has used the sar 4 in a piggyback setup? Or is it too big for this kind of set up?

Possible matches for it (or the 3) would be a bwm le, hogfsh or tglb.

Thanks in advance

The SAR-4 is a full-sized heavy knife. I couldn't imagine piggy-backing it to an even bigger knife and carrying the set up comfortably. That's exactly what the SAR-3 is made for

Piggybacking a SAR4 wouldn't be impossible, but it would be rather heavy. Even on a light knife like a BWM. A bandolier type strap with a shoulder cushion would be highly suggested.

Hope this helps a little.

I was all keen to do a set with a SAR4 and bigger knife- until I was shown just how big the SAR4 actually is, especially when compared to the SAR3.

I saw that- some nice work. I need one with the right handle, to match the MBC.
I'm not sure I understand there, the knives are shown to illustrate how the sheath fits them, they're not for sale. Sorry if I misunderstand.

True, its a massive knife for a 5" blade. There are a few Busse's that are in between the SAR 4 and SAR 3 in size. The Active Duty and Meaner Street variations come immediately to mind.

Why not get a knife big enough to Piggy Back them all...?

I always have just the right knife when I'm out in the woods...never really needed the SAR 3 but I do have a drop point Leaner Meaner just in case.

Yep, that is pretty much the ultimate piggy back set up!

I'm with the majority here. The SAR-4 would not be the ideal knife to piggyback on a larger blade in my opinion. What do I know though? It could fit your needs perfectly and there's no doubt that it can be done. It really depends on your needs, I suppose. My preferred setup when exploring is a big blade (10"-11") and a small blade (usually ~3") in a piggyback setup. I have my Basic-4 piggybacked to my Basic-11, which has been my favorite setup for a while now. The Basic-4 is definitely a lot lighter than the SAR-4 though. If a piggyback setup doesn't work, my second choice is usually a big blade strong side and a 4"-5" blade worn on my week side setup for cross draw.
