Piggybacking - BK14 in BK5 sheath pouch.

I yanked the smaller sheath insert from my BK5 sheath, as I wanted to carry my BK14 in the small pouch on the BK5 sheath.

Prior to yanking the small plastic sheath from the pouch, I had fitted the BK14 in the pouch. It fit in there just fine but stood a bit proud of the BK5 because of the empty small sheath behind the 14.

I wanted the 14 to be flush with the 5. I will carry and use the 14 with neither scales nor paracord, so thought it would make for a slightly more compact combo with the 14 a bit closer to the handle of the 5.

I had no use for the small sheath in the pouch anyway, so simply yanked the thing out of there.

The 14 with its sheath fits in the pouch just fine now and is flush with the scales of the 5 which makes for a more compact package. The 14 is still in the outer of the two compartments of the pouch on the sheath but now it doesnt stand proud of the handle of the 5.

The pouch easily fits a Fällkniven DC diamond stone as well. Neither the BK14 nor the Fällkniven are prone to falling out of the pouch under normal circumstances. Neither will the BK5 drop out of the sheath - due to rattling of the sheath, I placed a strip of leather inside the sheath liner and this holds the BK5 just fine. No more rattling and if I need to secure the BK5 more securely, I still have the option of using the tied down 'thumb break.'

A note on the redneck sheath mods: Ill be the first to say, that I have no use for zip ties on folders.

However, after reading about this guy (Im sure most have seen this) using the Becker for three years and watching the video, I took a second look at the BK5 sheath.

Like the user in the vid, I dont always care for the sheath hanging low. I tied paracord to the various holes on the back of the sheath and tied both the top down and bottom 'flap' down using the holes both at the bottom and at the top of the sheath. Then I zip tied the 'flaps' for good measure - they wont move.

Now the sheath sits higher and when I go for a walk in the woods to whittle a stick, go hiking or camping, the sheath rides on my pants belt and does not ride lower than my jacket.

I like carrying the sheath that way in most circumstances. YMMV.
