Had this past Friday off of work and decided to head up to New Graham Knives in Bluefield, VA. About a 2-1/2 hour journey for me. I've been to Great Smokey Mountain Knife Works numerous times but I been wanting to go to NGK for awhile now. The trip was well worth it. NGK had remodeled the inside of the store and it was really snazzy. They had a huge selection of knives and it was easy to spend a couple of hours in there. I thought that their selection was better than that of GSMK and the prices were definitely better. As a matter of fact, their prices were very good.
I enjoyed drooling over their big selection of Chris Reeve knives. Got to handle a few Sebenzas and I would have to say that they are very nice, but OUCH on the price! Also, handled one of the Zero Tolerance 0350s. It has a great ergomoic feel to it and IMO is a much more suitable size for EDC than the 0300 series.
Of course there were plenty of Rat Cutlery knives. I saw all of the models except for the HEST, which I'm sure they will have later on. I had never given the RC3 with the orange handle much thought before, but after seeing one, I have changed my mind. It is a winner.
Just couldn't walk away from the store without buying something. So I bought another RC4. There is a picture of it below. I already have one that I use around the property but decided to get another to use at work.
The young ladies that worked there were very nice. If you're within driving distance of NGK, I highly recommend a visit. It was worth it for me.

That is one store that I would love to make it to. Just look at their inventory online its huge. I could definetly be in there for awhile. It would also be nice to be able to handle the knives before you buy, unlike the internet(No problems with the RC's, just others... mainly folders).

How far away is New Graham from Pound, Virginia? Do you know?

I did a mapquest on it and mapquest said it would be a two-hour trip from Pound, VA. Around 111 miles. New Graham is located near Bluefield, VA. It was about six miles southwest of I-77, near the VA-WV state line.

Wish I could make the trip but 10 hours round trip is a bit much. If I still lived in Roanoke, then it would be a different story.

Wow, I didn't think it would have been that far from The Pound.

Me neither, but judging from the mapquest map, it looks like you would have to take some nasty mountain roads. Not sure if there may be a better way for you. Sometimes mapquest can give some crappy directions.

You ever been to The Pound?

If my wife and I could have the jobs we have right now but live just outside of town, that would be an awesome thing. :)

I've come close. I've been camping in Jefferson National Forest. Close to Flat Gap if I remember correctly. Been a long time.

Wifey and I were married at Big Stone Gap which is probably 40 min. closer to New Graham. :D

Ginseng and Blackberry Picking! Rattlesnakes! Black Walnuts!

I wish I could make the trip to the pharmacy, but live a lot farther away:( If I ever get to the east coast, I'll get there for sure:)

not only is NGK a great place.. but they have some of the best customer service too.. I emailed them asking when more RC3MILs would be coming in, and they said they weren't sure but would keep my email and email me back. Thats cool!
