Pilot Test Run Natives in Smokey Mountain

I was looking through the Smokey Mountain Knife Works Catalogue and saw that they have a "special Production Run" of natives, It says "pilot test run." They are only 19.99. I was wondering what the story is behind these because it seems like a great deal. Any information is appreciated. Thanks. -Lev
