Well, my 18th birthday was the weekend and I got a few new knives. One of them was the aluminum scaled ripple, and, having seen a youtube video where someone had done this, I decided to give it a shot.

I think it looks nice and fits the role of a gentlemans knife better now, I might go back and acid wash the blade, what do y'all think?

Very slick!

Acid wash doesn't look good to me on a gentleman's blade. How about a two-tone finish? Blast the flats and polish the grinds.

The scales are orange peel textured, I dont have a sandblasting cabinet yet. I've decided not to do anything else with the blade, originally the all silver look was bugging me, but it grew on me.

Looks awesome. I like the Ripple, but I've always thought the scales were unnecessarily busy (grooves and "waves"). This looks much cleaner.

My thoughts exactly. If anyone finds the video of the guy who did this before, let me know, I'd like to credit him but I can't remember the name of the video.

oh man that is great! I never bought a Ripple due to hating the textured handle but didn't think of doing that.
