I fell in love with the Gentleman Jim so I ended up buying one. I understand emerson production knives don't have such wonderful fit and finish, there concentrated more on function. The blued hardwear and scales really didn't do it for me so I decided to start a project. The scales are green canvas g10 and the hardwear was done with Cerakote gen 2 graphite black. Let me know what you guys think.

Great job on those scales fugazy. The ceracote came out nice as well. You should post this over in the Emerson sub forum as well.

Absolutely gorgeous! Nice job, how's the Cerakote holding up?

Thank you! I've never used this knife, I actually have it on ebay right now. From past experience I can tell you that Cerakote is one of the best finishes available. Its basically rust proof and doesn't chip, flake or scratch. Soaking it in acetone doesn't even phase it. The only way I've ever removed it is by blasting with aluminum oxide. It puts kg guncoat and duracoat to shame. It's amazing

Where did you find that g-10? I would love that style but with an olive drab color for my Mini CQC-15

Once again....nice job!

Here's the actual scale thickness, measured with a micrometer.

Factory Emerson scales, .123"

New scales, .125"

That's a difference of .002", so there just about identical in thickness. The fact that the original emerson scales have a chamfered edge might make them appear thinner.
