As some of you may know, I like to "pimp" CS hawks. After close to a year-long hiatus (moved away from my shop), I'm finally getting back in the groove and trying to produce some more of these. This one is a graduation present for my best friend...we've been friends since we were about 6, and he's always wanted a badass Viking axe, so....
I gave it some big, bold filework that I thought befit the theme, and sharpened about 1 1/2" of the beard...I didn't sharpen the entire thing because he's got big hands, and I wanted him to have plenty of knuckle room if he choked up on the handle. I reduced the curvature on the top of the hawk a bit, as I thought it was more aesthetically pleasing.
This'll get either a 22" or 24" handle with cherry/mahogany finish and maroon or black paracord wrap.
Fully convexed (beard too!) to 1200 grit, and stropped. It'll shave.
I just wanted to share...I'm SUPER pleased with how the head on this one turned out. I'll post completed pics soon. Please tell me what you think of it!
