I bought a head spinner from one of the supply outfits and all it does is spin the end of the pin round. It doesn't create a dome like I need it to. How do you guys do that??? Thanks!!

Hey not trying to insult you but do you glue the pins in? Is this spinner to take the place of peening and if so please where did you get it? Cory

From what I understand about the spinner is that you put it in a high speed drill and apply pressure to the pin to cause it to dome. I have ordered a set of the seed punches for leather work to cut off and use as spinners on the different size pins I use. I don't know if it has to be a soft material or if it can be 410 SS pins. I do know that the ends have to stick out a little for it to roll over and make the dome. That is supposed to be the hard part (correct stick-out) of spinning the domes. I hope this helps some as I will be doing some after I recieve my seed punches.

Vaquero, I peen the pins on fixed blades but I'm trying to make folders and especially with materials like stag, peening can be deadly. I put the head spinner I bought in my drill and the pin in the vise and cranked the drill up full speed and leaned on the pin hard and all it did was round the pin, no flare to it at all. I guess I'll try making something that works better.
