After about a week, my Taiwan balisong, one of the pins fell off. I wanna replace both pins, so I dont have to do it again later. Well, I've tried doing this before, and I broke the handle on my Jaguar when I tried to do it. Anyone know what to do? I dont want to make the same mistake.

Have you checked Clay's tips on replacement?

Well, I suggest you use a small drill. I think this Taiwan uses brass pins which makes it even easier.

Use the punch provided by the drilling set and make dent on the pin cap. You might also use nail to dent it. This will prevent your drilling to be off centered.

Drill a hole through the pin, using a smaller diameter than the pin drill. Once it goes through, you can change it to a bigger one, or just move the drill to completely wear the pin off.

As Clay says always: work a little at a time. Don't use excessive force. It is better to be slow but sure ..

I think I remember you saying a while ago that you broke the handle when trying to get the pins off... am I remembering correctly? Well, I've removed quite a few pins from Jaguars before; what I find is easiest is to get 2 needle nose pliers (just my preference) and pull the pins in opposite directions. That way you don't really put any stress on the handles, only the pins.

I recently replace pins on my Taiwan bali. It was one that has black handles with dragons on them and a black coated blade. I just pushed the handle in opposite directions with the knife open and it eventually seperatated the 2 halves of each pin. I did it slowly and the handles splayed a little bit but didn't break. When I repinned it I added some washers that I had (ultra thin black metal washers) laying around and I used a vise to fix the splayed handles. Hope this helps.
