so, I have a great 21 small insingo, my everyday companion
sometimes the lock was a bit sticky, just very lightly, cleaning the lockbar face with some tissue seeemd to make things go right
decided to clean it after a month use, took it apart, lubed, screwed together....hard to open.

took it apart another time, the same. Have taken apart my small 21 a few times so it wasn't a new thing, was tired maybe
I can see some bronze colour on the locking scale...= pinched washer.... DAMN! I riuned my sebbie

had to gently sand the inside (with 1000 grit,1 light pass) of the washer to have it fir the bushing again, does not turn freely now but the knife works fine (it's just a bit harder than before but it's normal after cleaning)
I could see a light damage on the washer, tha'ts why it would not fit the bushing anymore, now it does but does not spin when the knife is disassembled

is it posible to order/get a new small washer? would just like to have the knife right again
thanks
maxx

Take it apart one more time, and clean again, you should not have to sand the washers...should fit...just take your time...and I doubt CRK'S will send out new washers....

You will have to send it in to have them fit new washers on, the cost of the shipping will be the most expensive part, the washers themselves are in the ballpark of 50 cents.

P.S.

Are you assembling the handles first and then sliding the blade-washer-bushing into the handles?

If not that is the proper way to do it so that there is no way to pinch the washers.

Look at the sticky above on how to clean/take apart a sebbie.

Good luck!

used the sliding way once on my small 21, didn't like the scratches the washers got while sliding them in
I start with the locking scale donw and add all parts, then the upper scale, screws and tighten, always worked fine
I put the female screw in the pivot hole, add the bushing, oil, small washer, blade, large washer and upper scale

always worked fine, this time the washer must have moved a slight bit and by tightening the screws I pinched it, there comes the light mark on the scale
the washer fits the bushing again but does not spin, when mounted I know it does not move but i'd prefer to have the knife new as before

sending it in is too costly form here, too risky and takes a long time, maybe 6 weeks and a lot of money
U have to get a couple new screws and a sheath, they culd probably put a new washer in the package?

Unfortunately they will not send a washer out, they have to custom fit it to the blade/bushing.

I didn't see you were from Italy, that's a bummer.

yep that's it, takes long from here
sent them an email, thought they have to fit it like most other parts

it works now, a freely spinning washer or a still washer shouldn't make much different when the knife is assembled right?
will use it even more so I have to send it in to the SPA :D soon

CRK will not send out washers because they have to be custom fitted to each sebenza, which from the other posts you now know. In my experience though, continuing to use a sebenza that has a pinched washer will result in a ruined washer and pre-mateur lock-bar face wear...........I once bought a used small regular sebenza off of ebay years ago when I first got into CRK folders. The knife was assembled incorrectly and the washer was pinched. The owner had used it for some time. When I got it, you could immediately tell something was not right. When I took it apart, the washer had a large groove in it ( damaged beyond repair ) and the lock-bar had a score mark from the blade tang not locking up correctly. I shipped it off to CRK and explained that I bought it used and told them my findings. They replaced the washers and had to re-heat treat the lock-bar face. When I got it back, it was good as new. But had the knife continued to be used, there is no telling what damage could have been done. The washers are easy to replace, but the lock-bar cannot be...........I know its a pita to send a CRK in because of shipping, but for the longevity of the knife, its by far and away the best thing. These are not $100 knives we are talking about. These are $400+ knives that deserve special attention by CRK when they warrant it.

Ok then, sent an email to crk, will send it in to get it working again
It will be painful to stay without it...hope the mnandi arrives soon

they say that if it works I should keep it, in fact it does work +- as before but you never know... (it's a user so problems may arise in time)
trying to send it back to check, the lock was sticky sometimes so I may get a new washer and the lock fitted even if it's expensive to do

sending it in, decided
not worth risking

the little distraction will cost me 55$, after less than 2 month after buying it
learned it. Next time, clean when you're not tired.

Sorry to hear that but $55 is lot cheaper than ruining CRK.
I'm sure you'll get it back as good as new.

Thats a def bummer, I just got my Lg 21 About a month or two and its my first CRK, it would be a pita to be without it for so long esp b/c of your locale, but I would def want the piece of mind knowing its for the best:eek: good luck and I'm sure your sebbie will be as good as new when u get her back

sending it in tomorrow, carrying my 21 instead, waiting for the mnandi, it's good not to have one only...
