Twice a year I like to announce the Piney Woods Hammer-In at Old Washington, Arkansas on the various forums. It's that time again folks. I debated on putting this in the Shop Forum, but the Hammer-In is as much for collectors and general knife enthusiasts who want to see how it's done, as it is for makers.

The Fall Hammer-In is next weekend. I'd like to invite all the BladeForums members who can make it to come join us. You won't be disappointed. Here's the Info:

Cutting Competition
The cutting competition will be open class. This means that you may use essentially any cutting tool that you have created, from Bowies to Camp Knives, or swords to Battle Axes. Whatever you use, keep in mind that it will have to complete a wide variety of cutting chores.

All participants need to sign up for the competion when signing in for classes on Saturday. All pieces will be checked for safety by the judges. If any of the judges feel that the piece is unsafe, then you will not be allowed to enter the competition. All knives must have a leather or nylon tether for safety.

*whew* Have I missed anything?

H-m-m-m, Jerry Fisk has traditionally been our Master of Ceremonies for the cutting competition. I just noticed that he's not listed on the schedule for this position. I'll have to check on that. He may have fired himself. I can't imagine a competition without that scoundrel's antics. :D

[ EDIT ]

I just realized that the way I worded the first sentence in this post that it may appear I represent the Hammer-In's in some official capacity. That could be quite misleading. I don't hold any official position -- I'm just a strong supporter of the ABS, the school, and the Hammer-In's.

I tried to re-word everything to show that I make these posts strictly in support and appreciation of the ABS, the school, and all the great folks who make it happen.

Thanks Terry.

The fellowship at these get togethers is nothing short of a great experience as I understand from many friends who attend. For collectors the education is second to none.

Rodney and I am looking forward to the hammer-in and cutting competition this weekend. See everyone there.

Terry; Fisk is gonna have his crummy old self there. He was just inadvertantly omitted from the printed program. Thanks for posting about the Hammer-In. You guys that are interested in knives or making knives you can pick up a years worth of tips; or 10 years worth if you make knives like I do; in one weekend. Looking forward to a great weekend. See ya'll over there. mike

Barbara and I will be there. I don't know if Troy will be able to make it or not. Won't know till Friday.
See you all there.
