Pingo legal in Danmark?

I'm about to leave for an European vacation, including a couple of days in Danmark. Just got the orange Pingo to take with me. Are there any news regarding its legal status in Danmark? I read that it was designed to comply with their laws, which specify no one-hand opening knives. The Pingo, however, can be easily opened with one hand (just like its predecessor, the DK Penknife). Should I be concerned?

Well, the Pingo can indeed be easily opened with one hand. I tried to edc it for the three weeks I was in Europe. The good thing is that it is much more people friendly than any of the usual Spydies I've carried in the past. No "Hey! That's a weapon you're carrying there" comments. On the negative side, the blade is too broad and lacks a useful tip, making the Pingo a less than ideal edc knife. I ended up getting a SAK after the first week.

I still like the Pingo and am looking forward to a G-10 version of it, preferably with a lock, but I wouldn't recommend it for edc. I'm still skeptical about it passing the restrictive Danish laws.

Hi Cisco,

We've been selling them in Denmark through dealers for some time now. No one has said they are not legal. I don't think they can be "easily" opened with one hand by the average person. The knife "Afi's" can open anything with one hand, but that's more skill than in the design of the knife.

Good to hear, Mr. Glesser. I was skeptical because I find the Pingo easier to open with one hand than the DK penknife. But you're right in that "easily" is a relative term. I'm glad the legal issues were resolved.

The knife was designed specifically with Denmark in mind so I would assume you'd be ok. But you never know, Europe can be a crazy place over knives.
