Well, this morning was an early morning, shouldn't have sharp objects near by when I'm still waking up ;) but had to fix the fire in the wood stove, it be gettin' cold up here in PA about this time of year.

I had the Pingo, classy small folder and just so handy a size, to slice up some cardboard and then slice through some newspaper, like a Sunday edition, just sliced through I don't know HOW many pages, effortlessly due to the very nice edge on there by my edge pro, what I didn't count on was how well it would also slice through my favourite pants!!! Luckily? I knew where abouts my leg was, but not the pant material that had bunched up and was waiting beneath the newspaper to be also sliced cleanly...:(

My favourite pants, just isn't fair, but, I was smiling cuz it didn't even hesitate going through the material, but, it was my favourite...

I pulled the pant leg up to JUST make sure nothing else across my thigh was laid open, just a very very slight cut through the top layer of skin, VERY lucky as I'll repeat, I was pretty tired during this operation!

So, just a word of warning folks, becareful with sharp tools and the Pingo, while an innocent looking folder, can cut ya quickly!!!

That's one danger with a truely sharp knife. Sometimes they slice so cleanly that you don't even know that you've carved yourself up for a while. You were pretty lucky that the only thing needing to be stitched up was your favorite pants. I've had deep cuts befor when a knife bit me that I didn't even notice until the wife started yelling about me dripping blood on the floor.

Why do wives get so upset when you bleed on the floor???? Women!!!!!!!

Yah guys, the wife wasn't too happy, but she did fix up my slit pants :)

Slow net connections certainly takes a while to upload these things!

Used my Canon SX40, worked pretty well, close focus macro was dandy, also set the self timer to 5 seconds before it started recording which makes the initial get up and go a little better.

Here's the video, short and sweet, much like the knife, a Spyderco Pingo, a Vox / Anso combined effort with Spyderco, solid little folder there...

I recieved mine on Monday, after a bit of a hiatus from Spyderco, and I am made up with it!!

Its 100% legal and sheeple friendly for the UK (which has surprisingly less stringent knife laws than Denmark).

It sits in the hand (or maybe half hand) so comfortably! The handle shape is just cradled into the hand so well by the index and middle finger. The jimping is in a clever place for finger/thumb purcahase in several grips

I owned and promptly sold a UKPK, I found my index finger rode up out of the choil on to blade all too easily (I tend to use an elongated knife/sword/squash grip) and I nicked my finger one too many times. No chance of this happening with the Pingo.

The N690Co steel takes a really great edge and I have found stropping it on my palm has brought it up just nicely. My only previous experience with this steel was when I gave a CTU Officer a sharpening lesson in convexing on his Extrema Ratio M.P.C (iirc). I don't think the blade thickness and geometry did the steel justice. The thinner stock and flat grind of the Pingo seems to better credit this steel (although time will tell there).

Love the blade shape and the amount of curvature. I've not used it in the kitchen yet, but I know this will perform well. Maybe I'll no longer need to take my folding Hocho with me when I'm cooking around peoples houses!!

Thanks for the posts and the vid....and to Spyderco and the designers for a great collaboration.

I think it's a great little knife!! I usually carry pocket tanks but this guy gets quite a bit of use, especially at work. Love the company, love the work of the designers. I had this one customized by a very nice chap here on the forums. Cheers.

Very nice mod there, looks amazing, congrats!!

I might try to get to the NY show on Friday, maybe, depends on work and also how bad parking may be there?
Like to meet Vox and Anzo if they are there...

I'm also curious re: parking at the NY knife show. If anyone has been there and has any feedback on ease of parking etc, I would love to hear it..

Thanks brother!! Have fun at the show.

Kind of a daily carry, always clipped in my back left pocket, handy to have on hand, here's shot of my Pingo taken tonight, push cut down through this 23mm thick book, cut was about 35mm so that's a bit for such a small slip joint blade :)

Thanks Matty, looking at the photo now, I should have cleaned off the handle a bit, but it was getting late and didn't notice the dust stuff till later on, oh well.

No problem. To be honest I didn't even notice. I really like the blade shape and handle shape. It looks really cool.

Pimp job would be kool, some contoured G10 scales would be handy but for me it's pretty fine as she sits :)

I just added a link to the full size of the photo above in that post.

Great knife and photos. I've wondered if there is a supply store where you could buy a thumbstud that would fit into the hole without moving around a lot. Sending it to one of the pimps like tuffthumbz would probably cost mucho cash.

dunno, probably could work up something to fit there, even getting some brass rod slightly over sized and press it into the hole maybe, but I find pinch grip and pushing back with my pinky works find IF I really need a one hand opening at the time.

The Pingo is my first Spyderco slipit and I love it. I really like "organic" blade shapes prevalent to Anso's designs and that drew me to this knife. I bought it NIB from a member here on BF and have been carrying it quite a bit. It is one of the sharpest out of the box knives I have ever received. I also really like the thickness of the blade all the way out to the tip, it functions like a heavy duty utility knife.
