Here's an adventure thread my wife, @MarriedTheMedic, posted on another forum. Thought I'd share it here, too.
With the snow recently and predictions of more to come this week, cabin fever had set in for me and 91Bravo. So we decided to hit the trail this weekend and do a relaxing overnighter. We picked Mt. Cheaha, which is one of our favorite places to hike and camp. It's nearby, and there is so much unexplored territory for us that we always have a great time and get to see something new.
This trip, we decided to hike a portion of the Pinhoti Trail. Jonny had been sick all week, so we wanted to take it easy and not do some crazy mileage. We did a little over 2 miles, going up to the Blue Mountain Shelter, then further down trying to find a nice flat spot to camp. We ended up coming back up the trail and setting up camp in the perfect place!
Hope you enjoy the pics!
Loaded down! We like creature comforts on these short hikes.
We actually ran across a couple of water sources, which was surprising. During the summer months, Cheaha is dry, and finding water is rare.
Arrival at our campsite! It looks a little rough, but I think we can work with it!
Jonny's a hard worker!
The tent going up. Shelter and bedding is my job!
We put the Silky to the test this weekend, and let me tell you, this thing is a BEAST! We processed a lot of wood, and it made quick work of it!
That's a big piece of wood you got there, Bravo!
The fruits of our labor
This is why I keep him around!
For all you baton haters...
